Understanding your score
What does an aptitude test score mean?
An aptitude test score is a summary of how a candidate performed on one timed assessment, under stated conditions. On GlobalPass+, that summary is a score from 300 to 900 for the pathway taken, a performance band, and a profile across the competencies that pathway measures.
Read the band before the number
The 300-900 scale is divided into five bands: Foundation (300-519), Developing (520-599), Proficient (600-679), Advanced (680-749) and Distinction (750-900). The band is the plain-language reading of the score. A score of 640 and a score of 670 are both Proficient; the difference between them is smaller than the difference between either and a Distinction result.
Scores from different pathways share the scale but are not statistically equated. A Graduate Launch score and a Foundations score are not ranked against each other, and neither is a percentile. Your report states the pathway, the score, the band and the competency profile together, because the number alone does not say what was measured.
What the score can and cannot support
The score supports a claim about performance on that pathway's tasks, on that day, under timed conditions. The competency profile shows where the performance was stronger or weaker within the pathway. That is evidence an employer, university or candidate can weigh alongside qualifications and experience.
It is not an IQ score, a personality finding, or a prediction that someone will succeed in a named job. It does not replace a degree, a language qualification, or an interview. A single sitting also carries ordinary variation: preparation, rest and familiarity with the format all affect performance at the margin.
Questions
Within one pathway, a higher score reflects stronger performance on that assessment. Across pathways the scores are not equated, so comparing numbers from different assessments does not rank the candidates.
There is no universal cutoff. Proficient starts at 600, Advanced at 680 and Distinction at 750. What a reader needs depends on the decision the result is informing, and the band and competency profile should be read with the number.
