Skills assessment

What is a skills assessment?

A skills assessment is a set of tasks that asks a person to show a capability, rather than to describe it. The result is evidence from that sitting. It is not a biography, and it is not a decision about a job or a university place.

What it can and cannot show

A good skills assessment names the capability, the conditions, and the time. GlobalPass+ pathways are timed. Foundations is 60 minutes. University Entry is 75. Undergraduate Benchmark and Postgraduate Readiness are 90. Graduate Launch is 100. Professional Leadership is 110. Each paid sitting produces a score on a 300 to 900 scale, a competency profile, a report and a certificate.

The certificate does not replace a degree, a language qualification, or an interview. It also does not diagnose personality or a clinical condition. An employer or a university still decides what to do with the evidence.

Where to start

Choose the stage you are in, not a generic test. School-leavers looking at university use University Entry. Students already enrolled use Undergraduate Benchmark. Final-year students and recent graduates use Graduate Launch, which includes responsible AI use among other competencies. That is not a standalone examination of one AI product.

If you want the difference between an abstract reasoning item and an applied task, read the comparison with aptitude tests. If you are hiring, the employer page explains what the score does not do.

Questions

What is a competency assessment?

Here it means the same sitting reported as a competency profile: separate results for the capabilities the pathway measures, plus one overall score. It is not a personality inventory.
